Horizon HA Gives and Gains
Published on July 28 2010
Livingston-based Horizon Housing Association's in-house maintenance team took time out from their usual duties to lend a hand in the Royal Edinburgh Community Gardens as part of the national Give and Gain Day.
The team spent the day strimming to create a woodland path and creating boxed planting beds in the gardens on NHS Lothian-owned land at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital. Cyrenians oversees the development of the gardens, the aims of which are to grow food and promote companionship, health and wellbeing.
Horizon's volunteers formed one of 220 teams around the UK which took part in Give and Gain Day, which is managed in Scotland by Scottish Business in the Community.
Dave Lacey of Cyrenians' Good Food Programme said: "Horizon's team has made a fantastic contribution. They brought huge expertise and wonderful tools and made very fast progress as they really knew what they were doing."
