Social Enterprise Clydebank goes across the pond
Two representatives of the award-winning Social Enterprise Clydebank (SEC) are preparing to jet off to San Francisco for the 3rd Social Enterprise World Forum.
Chief Executive Fiona Tipping and Senior Link Housing Officer Helen Kealey, who sits on the SEC steering group, will form part of a Scottish delegation attending the forum at the start of May. They will join 600 social entrepeneurs from all over the world to learn, be inspired and make new connections in the expanding social enterprise movement.
As well as showcasing SEC, Fiona and Helen will be visiting various social enterprises in San Francisco and Vancouver. They hope to visit a recycling enterprise because SEC has recently received funding to set up its own recycling unit in Clydebank, while Link Housing Association is looking at how it can maximise the re-use and recycling of items left in void flats to supply furniture packs to new tenants.
Helen said: "The very best from social enterprise around the world will be at the forum so it will be a great opportunity to learn about best practice from other countries - and to showcase the success of Social Enterprise Clydebank.
"I also hope to have a greater understanding of how social housing can work in partnership with social enterprise and to find out what benefits it can generate for tenants."
