Edinburgh amateur football team kitted out thanks to Link

Link is proud to announce that it has sponsored Cabrera “Marie Curie” AFC’s new team strips as well as its new training kit.

Link’s Chief Executive Craig Sanderson, recently met the players and watched the players in their new strips in action.

Cabrera “Marie Curie” AFC was established in 2013 by team mates of 29-year-old Iain Godfrey, who died of bowel cancer after a three-year fight – and named it in honour of the charity which treated him. The team plays at The Gyle as part of East of Scotland Churches Association League.

The team holds a number of fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for Marie Curie and in the past year its fundraising total has exceeded £8300.

Grateful for the support

Player-manager Jason Wood, 29, who works for Link’s Private Sector Leasing team, said: “We are grateful for the support that Link has given us as this allows us to donate more money of the funds we raise straight to Marie Curie instead of towards running costs for the club. It makes the guys look and feel very professional and I doubt it’s something we could have imagined before Link and our other sponsors have helped us over the last 16 months.”

Proud to sponsor this team

Craig Sanderson, Link Group Chief Executive, added: "Link has been involved in sponsoring community sporting initiatives for a number of years and we are especially proud to be supporting Cabrera “Marie Curie” AFC – especially as a number of Link staff are in the squad. We wish the team every success - both on the field and in its fundraising efforts.”

Link joins the team’s other sponsors CTD Joinery and Capital City Electrical.

Link will be keeping a track of how the team gets on throughout the year - you can follow the team on Twitter @CabreraMCAFC and find them on Facebook - Cabrera MC AFC.
