Lintel Trust in discussions to join Link group
The Boards of the Lintel Trust and the Link group wish to announce their intention that Lintel will become a subsidiary of the Link group of charitable registered social landlords and social enterprises.
Detailed discussions have been ongoing for some time with both organisations pleased that this proposed arrangement will strengthen Lintel to enable it to develop and meet future challenges. The process to formalise this arrangement has begun with both Boards agreeing to move forward.
The inclusion of Lintel into the Link group will provide a strong base allowing Lintel to continue and augment its work across Scotland, supporting projects which assist those who are the most disadvantaged in terms of social housing. Link has always been a strong supporter of Lintel Trust both in monetary terms and ‘in kind’ and the proposed amalgamation will further strengthen this relationship.
One of the main areas of priority for the Lintel Trust during the next few months is the Social Enterprise Programme. Wates Family Enterprise Trust (together with a number of housing associations and commercial companies) has supported this programme and both Lintel and Link are keen to ensure that it is developed and promoted to best advantage throughout Scotland.
Lintel and Link believe this partnership represents a unique opportunity to contribute in a significant way to the development of social enterprise within the social housing sector throughout Scotland and to empower those most in need.
Robert McDowall, Lintel Trust’s Convener, and Trustee of over 20 years’ standing said, “This inclusion into the Link group offers Lintel the opportunity to expand its work with the support of a long, successful and well-established social enterprise body, providing the means for us to take Lintel to a different level. Trustees are delighted at this outcome and look forward to Lintel working with Link over the coming years.”
Roy Stirrat, Link Group’s Chair, added, “We look forward to welcoming Lintel into the Link group. This move will ensure the expansion of social enterprise activity within the social housing sector.”
