Help getting a job
We want to make sure you have access to the help and training you need to get onto the employment ladder.
We do this by offering access to a variety of training and employability support courses. These courses can give you the skills and confidence you need to enhance your job prospects.
We deliver a number of employability support courses in Edinburgh, Falkirk and Fife, including:
- Link to Work
This course is run four times a year for 13 weeks and is aimed at people aged over 25.
This is a structured employability course with 8 weeks in the training room and 5 weeks on a work placement of the person's choosing.
Link to Work covers the four units required to receive the SCQF Level 4 Employability Award.
- Work Able
This course is aimed at people aged 18 and over who are claiming ESA Support or Universal Credit.
We aim to help participants reach their goals and aspirations through a person-centred support plan.
- Step Up
This course is run four times a year for 12 weeks and is aimed at young people aged between 16 and 25.
The course gives young people the opportunity to develop their confidence, self-esteem and employability skills as well as gaining valuable work experience and gaining an SQA accreditation.
This is a structured course with 9 weeks in the training room and 3 on a work placement of the young person's choice.
The young people cover four units to receive the SCQF Level 4 Employability Award.
- Steps to Resilience
This course runs for 11 weeks and is aimed at young people between the ages of 16 and 25 who have experienced trauma (including bullying and abuse).
It teaches Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness - useful skills and techniques proven to help with anxiety and self confidence.
During week 10 participants go on a fully funded residential courses.
- Step On
This course is aimed at unemployed young people between the ages of 16-25.
The programme helps young people to identify their goals and aspirations for the future such as training, future education or a potential career path.
It offers a qualification in SCQF Level 4 Personal Development. There are opportunities to become a volunteer Peer Educator or a Mentor. Volunteers can also complete a qualification in SCQF Level Volunteer Skills Award.
- SQA qualifications
We offer a range of SQA Qualifications in Falkirk. These courses will help participants learn valuable new skills, improve self-confidence, and gain knowledge and experience that will stand out to potential employers.
These qualifications are delivered at the Link Academy Hub, McKinven House.
Training and work experience
We offer a number of volunteering opportunities, work placements and apprenticeships not only within Link, but with some of the contractors we employ.
