Simon started with Link in 2007 as an agency temp and now he works in the Allocations team in Link Housing Association.
What do you do at Link?
I currently work in the Allocations Team, which is in charge of ending/starting tenancies and advertising vacant properties.
During my time with Link I have worked in several different departments, from helping first-time buyers get on the housing ladder through the Scottish Government’s LIFT scheme, to managing temporary accommodation in the Private Sector Leasing team.
Is there any support or training you would like to highlight?
I have been involved in Link’s Staff Concerns Panel for several years now. The panel allows any member of staff to raise any concerns they have confidentially, and ensures that any staff who do raise concerns are not penalised for doing so.
I also attended Link’s Aspiring Leaders Programme, which encourages staff to develop their leadership skills. This course focussed on ‘Everyday Leadership’, encouraging staff to take responsibility regardless of their role.
What do you think of Link as a place to work?
Having seen the organisation from several different angles, the one constant throughout all my roles has been Link’s commitment to provide affordable homes to those who need it most.
The experience of working in lots of different departments and with lots of different people has really helped me in the role I do now. The support and training Link has given me to try different roles and develop my career has been great, and I’m looking forward to the next challenge!
