We are committed to making sure you have access to computers and the internet, as well as making sure you have the skills to use them.

The changes caused by welfare reforms mean you may have to make benefit claims online in the future.

We have affordable ways to help you access the equipment you need to use the internet.

Training courses

We organise training courses throughout the year which can help you learn how to use computers, access the internet, set up an email address, stay safe online, and much more.

Need help and advice getting online?

Our Digital Inclusion Officers are here to help you access the internet and show you how to use a computer, laptop, or tablet device.

They can also show you how to do the following online:

  • complete benefit claim forms
  • set up digital banking 
  • stay in touch with family and friends using social media or Skype
  • pay your rent or bills
  • shop and save money
  • look for and apply for jobs

Energy advice

Home Energy Scotland has an online Home Energy Check tool. They also offer a free, impartial service to support households to save energy, reduce carbon emissions, and reduce fuel bills.

We are a referring agency for Home Energy Scotland and our housing team will be happy to make a referral on your behalf if you think you could benefit from their services. 

There are also grants available to help clear fuel debts for those experiencing difficulty with their fuel bills. Our advice team will be happy to discuss this with you in more detail and help you apply if you are eligible.

We can also help you understand your fuel bills and manage any fuel debt, finding out who your fuel supplier is and making sure you are on the cheapest tariff possible. We can also help you access energy-related benefits and grants such as the Warm Home Discount and Winter Fuel Payment.

Switching energy supplier

You may be able to save money by switching your energy supplier. Citrus Energy can help you to reduce your fuel bills by providing a free independent and impartial energy switching service.  

Price comparison websites can help you to compare the prices of different energy suppliers to help you get a better deal.

We know sometimes managing your money can be a daunting task, but we're here to help!

Our dedicated team of money and debt advice officers provides free, impartial, and confidential advice on how to manage your money and can support you in dealing with your debts.  

Budgeting your money

The Money and Debt Advice Service has a great free online budget planner you can use to help make your money last longer.

Affordable loans

Credit unions offer low-cost affordable loans and simple ways to save.

Even if you haven’t been able to get credit through high street or online banks and building societies – you can access an account through a credit union. Find your nearest credit union.
