Link Group’s Gartcosh development creates ‘fresh start’ for North Lanarkshire families
Link Group has welcomed tenants to their new build Glamis Place development after Link partner C~urb Property Development delivered 22 much-needed affordable, quality one- and two-bedroom homes for social rent in Gartcosh, North Lanarkshire.
Link Group Executive Director Commercial and C~urb CEO, Colin Culross, said: “Delivering affordable homes that provide people with a place they can call home is vital in helping to address the national housing emergency. With a record number of people and families in Scotland living in temporary or unsuitable housing, it is of the utmost importance that Link continues to deliver high-quality homes like those in Glamis Place.
"C~urb Property Development had a pivotal role in securing the opportunity and managing the project to a successful completion.
"The success of the development has been supported by partnership working with Timetra Ltd, who completed the build to a very high standard, the Scottish Government, who provided £2.9 million of funding through the Affordable Housing Supply Programme, and North Lanarkshire Council, who helped identify suitable applicants and allocate homes to those who needed them most.”
Some of the families had previously been living in temporary accommodation or experiencing housing uncertainty before moving into their new, permanent homes in Glamis Place. One resident said their new home has helped them feel ready to “look to the future”.
"Moving into Glamis Place has given me a fresh start. The flat is beautiful, and it's made such a difference knowing we’ve got a secure home and can settle down,” they added.
Social Justice and Housing Secretary Shirley-Anne Somerville said: “Good quality, secure housing like this is essential to tackling Scotland's housing emergency and giving families the fresh start they deserve.
"By working with partners such as Link Group, Timetra Ltd, and North Lanarkshire Council, we are delivering homes for those who need them most, including families who have experienced the uncertainty of temporary accommodation.
"We remain focused on delivering 110,000 affordable homes across Scotland by 2032, with at least 70% for social rent."
Lewis Murray, Development Director at Timetra Ltd, said: “We are proud to have completed our first development for Link Group at Glamis Place. Our Management, Site Team, and Design Team worked closely with Link to deliver 22 new homes of exceptional quality, greatly improving this part of Gartcosh and, most importantly, providing much-needed affordable homes in the midst of the current housing crisis.
“We are excited to be moving forward with Link on a number of further projects in early 2027 and would like to thank them for the opportunities given to an SME Developer like us.”
