Activities at the community event on Friday, September 22, included a spud and spoon race, raffle, sack race, face painting, and plenty of tater fun. The community garden’s polytunnel was also officially opened.
Rose Dorman,Growing Beardmore Chair, said: “It was fantastic to see our polytunnel officially opened. It will make a difference in helping us grow even more fresh fruit, vegetables, and plants. It is further evidence Growing Beardmore community garden is going from strength to strength, providing sustainable produce for local residents.
“I was also delighted to see so many people at our potato harvest. Everyone had a great time enjoying the tattie-themed events. Involving the community in these fun activities really helps them see first-hand how Growing Beardmore is evolving and how community gardens such as ours make a real difference.”
Link Housing’s Tenant Engagement Team met tenants to provide support and answer any questions.
Growing Beardmore in Beardmore Place, Dalmuir, consists of Link Housing and Cube Housing Association members and welcome everyone from the wider community to get involved. They have contributed to setting up the garden by growing organic fruit and vegetables.
