Please complete our online form if you wish to notify us about any changes to the household , and we will be in touch regarding what, if anything, you need to do next.

Please note that requests for tenancy changes are considered on an individual basis and will only normally be granted if at least one of the original tenants is still named on the tenancy agreement.

Moving out – Secondary Tenant

However, we will contact you to confirm these changes.

Unless we are notified, and the joint tenancy agreement is formally ended, both parties will remain liable for any costs or responsibilities under the terms of the tenancy agreement.

Joint tenants have equal rights and responsibilities over the tenancy and therefore, both parties must agree if one tenant wishes to remain in the propertyApproval to grant a new tenancy in a single tenant's name will be subject to affordability checks to ensure that the property is affordable for them based on their sole income.  Your Property Management Officer will provide more details regarding what is required after you notify us of any changes.

If you wish to bring a joint tenancy to an end, both parties must complete and return the termination form.

More information regarding ending a joint tenancy is available on Shelter Scotland website How to end your tenancy - Shelter Scotland.
