Link’s annual Summer Fun Day returns to bring West Lothian communities together

More than 400 people attended Link’s annual Summer Fun Day at Bathgate Thistle’s Creamery Park on Saturday 5 July.

Activities included bouncy castles, face painting, a small animal petting zoo, and arts and crafts. A children’s disco and party games entertained the younger children, and there were a variety of information and advice stalls for adults.

Staff from Link’s housing and welfare teams and their property maintenance subsidiary C~urb were on hand to discuss everything from welfare rights to repairs with tenants attending the event. Bathgate Thistle FC organised a ‘beat the goalie’ competition, whilst community choir, ‘Singergie’, entertained the crowds with an open-air performance.

For our neurodiverse visitors, we had a calm and cosy sensory space. This was a big hit with families needing a bit of quiet in between all the excitement.

Chairperson of the ‘Link in West Lothian’ tenant group, Jim Porter said: “This year we increased the variety of activities to make sure there was something for everyone.

We’re delighted so many people of different ages from across West Lothian joined us and had a chance to connect with Link and C~urb staff.

With cost-of-living becoming increasingly challenging for people, this event was perfect – and all free!  Well done, Link.”
